Pro-Style® 36" Wall-Mount Hood

This is a very nice looking hood. The lights and fan are good. I had a thermador hood in my last house and there are 2 things I liked better that Jenn-Air could improve on (in my meek opinion). 1) the shelves could be a little closer to the heat light and 2) the heat lights could each have their own on/off button rather than both lights coming on. Other than that it's great and I'm happy with my purchase.

First let me say I am no stranger to commercial ranges. I've cooked on restaurant lines for several years. At home I am fine with a standard range but hubby wanted an upgrade. I am extremely disappointed in this range. First off, the smell is very strong. The commercial updraft vent can't handle the exhaust from the oven. The oven fans push the "gas" scent across the room and the updraft can't pull it up. The oven bakes wonderfully if you can stand the smell. The Jenn-Air repair man was at our house four times for repair. The warmer burner in the back was way to hot and would boil everything at the lowest setting. The repairman finally used a different gas nozzle that will keep the flame very low but it is not the standard nozzle and the flame only stays that low. The only burner that will go low enough to simmer is the front right which is the highest BTU. In my opinion all the burners should have the capability to go that low of a flame. Especially for such an expensive range. The repairman finally brought a gas tester out after checking the nozzles in the oven twice. The tester read normal. He also felt that the blowers in the oven were overpowering the updraft and hence the smell (which is the additive that is used in the propane tank as you know propane is odorless) We were still unhappy with this range but according to the repairman all specifications were in order. We had our regular gas man come look at the range and he changed up something in the nozzles in the oven for us so that the flame was not so high. should not see the orange color so much. It's the blue of the flame that you want to see. He said that most gas stoves have an air band on the nozzle (he had more technical names but I just cook I don't fix ranges) and this range did not have the band. He switched out the standard nozzles and tested for gas leaks which was fine. We started the oven again and the smell was noticeably less. I Don't recommend this range at all

I bought this range hood along with a suite of Jenn-Air appliances (range, refridgerator, dishwasher). I installed it myself with no significant deviations from the directions. It has a 10" diameter exhaust so had to special order a roof vent from an online retailer because the local box stores don't stock that size. Operation is excellent. We use it on low setting (level 1 or 2) whenever we use the range top, and as needed on a high setting (5) when we need to control smoke when opening up the range (such as when cooking bacon in the oven). Just the other day I accidentally started a small fire in our toaster oven and this hood cleared out the kitchen before any smoke detectors went off. It can pull a lot of air so if you have a tight house (which my older house most definitely is not) you need to plan for make-up air. The task lights have a bright and dim setting. We use the bright when cooking and the dim as a night light. It is quiet until you get to level 3 (of 5). And on level 5 it roars. We have not used the warming lamps, but they seem like they would do fine. The baffles are easy to get in and out and go into our dishwasher for cleaning as needed.
